This morning I was blessed and honored to have attended my very first AIGA Morning Leak, it was a treat. Everyone there was friendly, All of the presenters and their work were amazing, they even served my favorite coffee, Starbucks, and no offense Folgers but the real best part of waking up is Starbucks in your cup, LOL! But my most favorite part was seeing each of the The first presenter we were blessed to see today was the lovely Tiffany Manning, a freelance photographer/ graphic designer who most recently got a new building for her business. What impressed me the most about Tiffany was the fact that she was using her talent to help non-for-profit organizations such as Baptist Health Disability Services and EPIC, to use your talents to help out so many people in need with a unselfish heart is more rewarding than just to do the project. I also loved the fact that she stressed the importance of how communication is key between designer and client. Bravo Tiffany! The second one that came up to present his most recent final identities was Sean Collins, and my oh my Is he brave and very creative. My favorite part of his presentation was seeing his latest winning poster, which he dressed himself as Cleopatra and worked many hours to finally win his first AIGA Summer Poster Contest, Kudos to you Sean! He is also part of the annual fundraiser, Movember, In which every November, him and 25-30 other people grow mustaches to spread Men’s Health Awareness. The third presenter was Brittany Norris, a multi-talented Graphic Designer whose work is beautiful, cool, and hip. What Impressed me the most about her was her website design for the local charity she supports, DIG Local, Inc. and I loved the design of the web page, brilliant Job Brittany! The last presenter of this morning was Jesse Sisson, who is currently a Graphic Designer for All-State who came up with the coolest, most modern Vehicle Contract for his company. I also loved his other 2 peices of work as well, Dying Eyes and Iron Man Costume, which was awesome. Way to go Jesse! At the conclusion of the meeting, they gave each of us a flyer of the upcoming AIGA events, which I liked too. I cannot wait for the next Morning Leak meeting! Best and blessings!
Out of all the projects I have completed thus far, I would have to say this project was my most easiest and my personal best out of the three other projects I have done, even though I still got to do a change order on this yet, I have to say that I have done a good job on this project, applied myself more to this project versus the Anti-Autism Cruelty Project, which I have to admit, I kinda half-did the job on in some aspects, It was way too basic, but I learned from that experience, my final flash project clearly shows that. If I had any piece of advice to give all of you today It would be this, No matter what you do, how hard or easy It is, etc. always put your best foot forward in everything you do, put your heart and soul into what you want to accomplish in life, if the going gets tough, don’t quit, try harder. This piece of advice especially goes out to my readers with disabilities, for them I would like to add on this, do not let anyone or anything get in your way in what you want to achieve in life, If someone tells you you are not capable of doing certain things, tell them yes i can!, they will not like hearing that, but it is the truth and sometimes the truth hurts so if you get that negative of a reaction from them, don’t take it personally. Best and blessings!:)
Wow, I cannot believe that Friday will be the very last day of Multimedia Production I class, it seems just yesterday we had our first day. So much has happened in my life these past 4 weeks, they were hard and trying times, there were also blessed ones as well. In regards to using Adobe flash for the first time ever in my life, all I got to say is it was quite a challenge, but a good challenge though, but still I learned through my toughest times with flash that learning adobe flash is most certainly no walk in the park, it takes a lot of practice and time to master this program,most but I never gave up through those toughest times, I sought each and every project I did through to the end and I have to say that is a accomplishment for me, seeking a task from start to end without anyone or anything getting in my way. In regards to my next 2 projects that I did, I would have to say both were a little easier, but I still struggled, but I learned and got through it and that is what counts. I am currently working on my final project, my very own kinetic typography of Katy Perry’s “Wide Awake”, so far im finding this project easier than what I expected, It also makes me realize that I am more of a free creator instead of remaking a close to identical current kinetic typography, but with more practice and experience I will overcome that hurdle too, like always. As far as my strengths versus weaknesses go for my 2nd month, as my husband likes to say, It’s like this:
My strengths this month were;
- My frustrating moments are improving, starting to become less frequent. (now if I can only cut my frequent bathroom trips during class, i would be straight.)
- My graphic design skills are improving by the day and per project! 🙂
- I am conquering Adobe Flash!
- I am also getting more into my awesome writing and copyright groove again, even my instructor loves my writings.
I would have to say my only drawbacks were my frustrating episodes (got a little too dramatic at times), the frequent bathroom trips (which i hate having the urge to go to the bathroom at least 2 times during class, ugh.) and my time tracking skills must improve, but I know I can overcome these hurdles, become an even stronger woman in the end. If I had any advice to give to all who read this, it is this simple piece of advice, when you fall off the horse, get back on the saddle or in lamens terms, never give up on anything that you want to accomplish in life, all those obstacles that may try to get in your way, push them to the side and keep going and the only way those obstacles will overcome you is if you let them, don’t do that. Best and blessings to one and all.
